Souf Hotel (El Oued) The hotel is located in the urban fabric of the city of El Oued, county town of the wilaya. It is close to several public administrations. It was operational in 1971. Besides its initial vocation of Saharan establishment and, with regard to its typical architecture in the region of Souf (domes and arches), the hotel is also comparable to urban hotel business. The customers who attend it are cosmopolitan. They are made up of businessmen, transient customers (closeness of Tunisian borders) and tourists (domestic and foreign) amateurs of scenery change. The hotel has 91 particularly well conceived and comfortable rooms. A swimming-pool livened up with a garden, supplements these facilities. Its minaret gives a splendid view on the city with a thousand domes which is surrounded by a sea of sands with infinite dunes. El Oued has an airport with shuttle services with the capital.

Present market :

Having undergone a complete renovation of its rooms (end of works in May, 2005), the unit recorded an occupancy rate of 20 % only. It represents the tenancy of 6.500 rooms. Due to the works (kitchen and room), restoration is not functional (reception of works envisaged for march 2006).

With the actual situation which is the most positive, request is always increasing. The socio-economic development of the region as well as the improvement of the security aspect will be the catalysts of this revival.

The stability linked to the improvement of the security aspect will certainly bring a dynamics in the revival of tourist activity in the region of Souf. As a recall, the seventies and eighties were the most prolific. The frequent passages of foreign touring groups constituted a barometer.
